Today my good friends and recent SW artist Archaic Decapitator have premiered a song from their forthcoming album via Heavy Blog Is Heavy here: http://www.heavyblogisheavy.com/2016/05/10/exclusive-premiere-stream-a-new-song-from-archaic-decapitator/
The “Light of A Different Sun” album was recorded and mixed here at Studio Wormwood, and marks a big step up for the band in terms of musicianship, songwriting, and overall presentation. I was extremely impressed with guitarist Yegor’s preparation preceding the album sessions, and his hard work is abundantly clear in the tightness of the guitar performances. Like most heavy records I record and/or produce, we double tracked all of the rhythm guitars left and right, for a total of 4 unique performances. Rhythm tone is our Soldano HR50+ amp, driven in front with a Blackstar HT-Boost pedal, through our Atlas Cabinets custom 6×12. From the beginning, Yegor was clear that he didn’t want to chase the trendy, prepackaged “technical metal tone” that has become so popular today, rather going for a natural, saturated yet clear distortion sound more similar to some of the older Swedish melodic death metal bands.
